Special Sessions

Several special mini-symposia are planned for this year's meeting. Eric Herbst, The Ohio State University, and Brian Howard, Oxford University, are organizing a mini-symposium entitled "Van der Waals Molecules" on the occasion of the 75th birthday of William Klemperer. Invited speakers will include: William Klemperer, Harvard University; Michael Heaven, Emory University; and Brian Howard, Oxford University; and Robert McKellar, NRCC. A second mini-symposium is being organized by David Pratt, University of Pittsburgh, on the subject of "Bio-Molecules." Talks will feature studies of the structures and dynamical behaviors of large molecules of biological significance or their mimetics, in a solvent-free environment. Invited speakers for this mini-symposium include: Walther Caminati, University of Bologna; Martin Jarrold, Northwestern University; and Mattanjah de Vries, University of California at Santa Barbara. A third mini-symposium is being organized by Roger Miller, University of North Carolina and Takamasa Momose, Kyoto University on "Spectroscopy in quantum liquids and solids" emphasizing research in He clusters and H2 crystals and related work. Invited speakers include: Mario Fajardo, Air Force Research Laboratory, Munitions Directorate, Eglin Air Force Base; Andrey Vilesov, University of Southern California; Tsutomu Yabuzaki, Kyoto University and Giacinto Scoles, Princeton University.
