Donut Room, Outside, and Fire Alarm Photos
The Symposium has a nickname, "The Donut Conference" for a reason. Many
conferees take a break from the sessions by enjoying hundreds of donuts and
several cups of coffee, as well as talking with other attendees.
This year, the weather was wonderful and many people took advantage of it by
sitting outside between sessions. It also allowed the opportunity to talk
one on one with other scientists.
So much planning goes into making the conference a success, but there are
always unexpected events. On Thursday of the conference, a fire alarm went
off in McPherson just before the afternoon sessions were supposed to start.
While waiting for the fire trucks to come, people gathered outside the building
in clusters, eager to get inside and get started. Fortunately, nobody was
harmed and it may have been a false alarm.
